The primary mission of the Library is to support the instructional programs of The Art Institute of Washington through the provision of Library resources and the promotion of their use.

Library staff is always available to help students and faculty locate and utilize Library resources. Please ask for help.

Library Presentations
The Art Institute of Washington Library offers in-class presentations to The Art Instute of Washing community as well as weekly Library Workshops for students each quarter. Faculty can schedule presentations on a number of topics with the Reference Librarian in person or via email. Research assistance is available to students and faculty at any time. (Contact)

Library Requests
The Art Institute of Washington Library welcomes acquisition requests from students, faculty, and staff that will help us meet their needs. For specific requests, please fill out a suggestion slip at the Library Circulation desk and the Library staff will send out notification when the item arrives. The Library will also find an item through interlibrary loan if an acceptable item cannot be found in the Library (please allow 2-3 weeks for interlibrary loan requests). To gain a better understanding of the scope of the collection, please see the Library’s collection development policy (see Policies).

Reserves
For materials that faculty members place on reserve, ask at the Circulation desk. Reserve items are typically class text books and while on Reserve, the items are non-circulating (see Reserve Desk Procedures).
